When the Obama campaign released its January fundraising totals - $32 million - it turned quite a few heads. Of course we were all waiting for the other shoe to drop - what were Hillary's numbers for the same period? Now we know. Clinton campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe told Tim Russert Monday evening that her campaign raised "about 13 million, $13.5 million" in January. While in and of itself that's a formidable amount, it's far short of what the Obama campaign pulled in.
With Tsunami Tuesday now behind us, and Hillary unable to deliver a staggering blow to Obama, he's going to be cash ready to take the fight to the next round. The question is, can the Clinton campaign afford a prolonged fight?
I seriously thought the over/under for Tsunami Tuesday was Clinton +75. I figured Obama still had a chance if he dropped 100, and was prepared to celebrate if he hit came within 50. Winning 13 or 14 states and virtually tying the delegate distribution was a pipe dream.
Our Wisconsin primary is Feb 19th and I look forward to visits by both candidates over the next two weeks.
